Costa Coffee in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia

It is amazing that wherever you go these days it is possible to feel that you are at home. Globalization has allowed for the spread and popularity of the same brands across diverse cultures and geographic regions. Whenever I visit Al Rasheed shopping mall in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia, the first thing I do is head for the Costa Coffee cafe. This is one of my favorite cafes because of the large cups of tasty and aromatic coffee and the flaky cheese croissants. Full of cheese that is extra crumbly and mouth watering when heated. The cafe also offers copies of Arab News in English, a newspaper published and distributed in Saudi Arabia. Al Rasheed is full of cafes. There are also cafes in the area outside the mall that are busy in the evenings. These “street cafes” as I think of them usually have seating on the sidewalk or patio, giving the city a strong cafe culture that is not all that different from what one would find in Paris or other European cities. I enjoy the cafe culture here because it is so relaxing and takes me away from my usual work routine. Wherever I go, I look for a cafe where I can get a nice cappuccino or other type of coffee. Such cafes are often in the most interesting of neighborhoods and attract the most interesting people. A cafe is a good place from which to start an adventure, as well as a place to mark the culmination of one. That is what this blog is about.
